Today’s Irish Times suggests that inspirational Republic of Ireland defender Richard Dunne could be set for a summer move to Sunderland.

Dunne is the latest Irish international linked with a summer move. Rumours last week suggested Robbie Keane was set for a Sunderland move while Damien Duff has also been linked with moves to newly promoted Premier League sides Wolves and Burnley as well as a return to former club Blackburn Rovers.

Kevin Doyle and Stephen Hunt have both also been linked with moves away from Championship side Reading. Having missed out on promotion this season and then seen manager Steve Coppell leave the club, both may now seek to jump back to the Premier League via transfers.

One player who looks set to be staying put is Kevin Foley. The Wolves defender has celebrated the English Midlanders’ promotion to the Premier League by signing a new four year deal with Mick McCarthy’s side.

The same Irish Times article that references Dunne’s move suggests a possible exodus of Irish players from the Stadium of Light. Anthony Stokes and Roy o’Donovan are both seen as first in the firing line while Daryl Murphy and Paul McShane have been linked with a Roy Keane reunion at Ipswich Town.
