Hamilton reject offer for McCarthy
Newly crowned Scottish Young player of the Year James McCarthy has already found himself subject to transfer speculation.
His club Hamilton Academical have today confirmed that they have rejected an offer from English Premier League side Portsmouth for the midfielder.
Speaking to the club’s official website, chairman Ronnie McDonald said “Portsmouth made a formal offer but it didn’t meet our valuation. Having looked after him this far, we are happy to continue to do so. There have been other offers for him but he is still young.”
“If Aaron Ramsey went to Arsenal from Cardiff for £5m, then who knows what James might be worth. He is the outstanding player of his generation”, he added.
