There were three Irish Footballers in the Arsenal side which lifted the FA Women’s Cup in Derby today. Goalkeeper Emma Byrne, Ciara Grant and relatively recent addition Niamh Fahey (from Salthill Devon) all played the whole game as Arsenal added to their already packed trophy room.

Arsenal ran out 2-1 winners against Sunderland – with Sunderland grabbing their consolation goal in stoppage time.

Irish international keeper Byrne has now been with the Gunners for nine years and today’s win marks her 15th piece of major silverware with the London club – with the Premier League possibly still to come. Ciara Grant has been at the club even longer while Niamh Fahey will be enjoying her first season at the club since moving from the West of Ireland.
