Manchester United and Republic of Ireland utility defender John O’Shea could miss both legs of the club’s UEFA Champions League semi-finals against Arsenal. O’Shea limped off in Man Utd’s Premiership win over Portsmouth at Old Trafford last night – himself a substitute replacement for the injured Gary Neville.

O’Shea is now rated as an injury doubt for the coming weeks and could miss the vital clashes with Arsenal as well as a couple of Premiership games as the Red Devils chase the league title.

Elsewhere, Shane Long was on the scoresheet on Tuesday night as Reading beat Derby County 2-0 virtually assuring a play-off place in the race back to the Premiership. Stephen Hunt and Jay Tabb were also in action but Noel Hunt and Kevin Doyle were among the absentees with both still suffering from injuries.
