Quoted in multiple newspapers this morning, FAI Chief Executive John Delaney was unwilling to be drawn on a possible contract extension for senior international manager Giovanni Trapattoni. The Italian’s deal – currently being at least half funded by business-man Denis O’Brien and believed to be in the region of €2 million annually – runs until the end of Ireland’s World Cup 2010 campaign.

Speaking yesterday, Delaney gave little away but has suggested that the issue of Trapattoni along with assistant’s Marco Tardelli and Liam Brady could be discussed during the summer.
