The Irish camp received something of a boost this morning when Celtic winger Aiden McGeady completed a light training session in Malahide.

The winger is still feeling the effects of the foot injury which left him doubtful for Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Bulgaria but he must now be considered more likely to play on Wednesday.

Ireland are due to travel to Italy later today ahead of Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier in Bari.
