Shane Long was the only Irish player to make much of an impact in Tuesday night’s British football action.

The Reading striker scored twice to keep his club in the race for promotion to England’s Premier Division. Long grabbed both goals as Reading drew 2-2 against Charlton.

Long scored his first from the penalty spot shortly after half-time to level the game at 1-1 and rose to head home from Jay Tabb’s corner kick midway through the second half to grab the lead. However, Charlton fought back to clinch a draw.
